Shared, reseller and dedicated hosting provider GlowHost (www.glowhost.com) bought DataCities.com (www.datacities.com) Monday from its parent company, BannerView.com (www.bannerview.com), giving GlowHost DataCities’s domain name and customer base without affecting BannerView.com employees or clients.

E-business solutions provider BannerView originally acquired DataCities in November 2007 as part of its Lpanel” web hosting and billing automation software. “In 15 months, we turned around the operations by improving support, consolidating servers across multiple data centers and minimizing customer churn, putting it in a position to be sold to a company that focused on end user web hosting using cPanel,”

BannerView president and chief executive officer Mark A Cenicola said in a statement. “Now we can continue Lpanel development without it and continue our focus on high end web hosting with maintenance, managed dedicated server offerings, website development and e-business products.”

GlowHost president Matt Lundstrom said DataCities is a great fit for GlowHost, with a smooth transition already in the works. “The way that BannerView.com was able to turn around DataCities.com and make it a respected brand within just a short period of time is exactly the type of operation that made sense for us to acquire. The loyal customer base that has stuck with DataCities.com should find the continued support and expansion of available services beneficial to their future web hosting needs.”

Hosting tens of thousands of websites for customers worldwide, GlowHost offers reliable and affordable web hosting plans for individuals, businesses, resellers, and mission-critical enterprise applications, according to the company.

DataCities customers will be transferred to GlowHost plans, with any DataCities payments applied it to new GlowHost hosting packages. As well, cPanel login details will not change, however, billing, customer service and helpdesk logins will change slightly, with the password remaining the same but usernames will be changed and sent to users.
