The Planet, the global leader in IT hosting, today announced that it will host a seminar on the importance of developing a business continuity plan in preparation for natural disasters. Scheduled for Thursday, April 30, from 4 to 7 p.m., the company will feature two speakers. Robert M. Stein, professor of political science at Rice University, will share the results of a recent study that evaluates the experiences of Houston-area residents during Hurricanes Rita and Ike. Steve Ritter, data center manager for Panhandle Energy, will provide comments on his professional experience. The event will be held at The Planet’s Houston headquarters.

“In today’s competitive market, companies must have plans in place to ensure that critical business functions remain up and running in the event of a natural disaster,” said Steve Kahan, vice president of marketing and product management with The Planet. “This rings true everywhere, but in particular for businesses operating on the Gulf Coast during hurricane season. As a service to Houston companies, The Planet is hosting a forum where these topics are explored and local business-leaders can learn from those with both academic expertise and first-hand experience in disaster recovery solutions.”
