Managed services provider SunGard Availability Services (www.sungard.com) announced on Monday it has been certified by SAP AG (www.sap.com) to provide hosting services for SAP applications and is now an SAP hosting partner in the US.

Earlier this month, global logistics and transportation management organization BDP International chose SunGard Availability Services to provide the company with hosting services for BDP’s corporate information systems.

The certification was awarded following an assessment of SunGard’s infrastructure, procedures and technical staff by SAP.

As an SAP hosting partner and an SAP-certified provider of hosting services, SunGard’s services are compliance with SAP’s requirements for quality, availability and security.

The SAP website says that SAP-certified hosting partners receive a range of benefits, including “guidance on hosting and operations best practices, as well as with continuous knowledge transfer by SAP.”

SunGard’s managed application services offer customers a comprehensive set of IT services for their critical SAP applications, including infrastructure design, deployment and migration, management, administration, monitoring, reporting and ongoing support.

“By helping customers run applications at a higher level of productivity and availability, SunGard helps them maximize application investments and more effectively manage internal resources and priorities,” says Dave Colesante, senior vice president and general manager of managed services at SunGard Availability Services. “This partnership is a natural extension of SunGard’s commitment to provide customers highly available and productive SAP solution-based environments.”

According to the press release, SunGard Availability Services provides disaster recovery services, managed IT services, information availability consulting services and business continuity management software to more than 10,000 customers in North America and Europe.
