NETCOM FORGES RELATIONSHIP WITH SUPERNET: “ENHANCED INTERNET EXPERIENCE”

NETCOM, the world’s leading independent Internet service provider, is
partnering with Supernet, the UK’s first new media services provider, to
deliver superior product and service offerings to business users of the
Internet - “and through them a more rewarding Internet experience for
everyone”.

Coinciding with the launch of Supernet’s new CD product, which combines the
storage capabilities of the CD-ROM with the transactional capabilities of a
Website, NETCOM has announced that it will be offering its customers a free
90-day trial of the product, and Supernet has agreed to include NETCOM software
on its CD.

The new Supernet CD acts as a data warehouse, holding locally all the “look and
feel” elements of a commercial Website. The text-based information and control
software are held on the Web server and the final Web page is then constructed
in real time, enabling Web-surfers to access complex graphics, moving images
and audio clips in seconds.

Targeted at Website developers, the Supernet CD can dramatically enhance the
presentation of products and services across the Internet. The Supernet/NETCOM
partnership will enable NETCOM to offer a number of Supernet’s service options
directly to its business customers. Among these are Business Interactive, an
on-line “global business park” across which small and medium-sized businesses
may buy, sell or seek business development opportunities anywhere in the world
in a secure trading environment.

Business Interactive incorporates an intellegent database of records on 200
million companies and organisations in up to 150 countries, covering market
segments from manufacturing to finance and from property to retail.

NETCOM customers will be able to participate, through Barclays Merchant
Services, in BarclaySquare, launched as the first UK virtual shopping mall to
offer secure credit card payment schemes, jointly developed by Supernet and
Barclays Bank; and access to Supernet’s secure multi-currency credit card
transaction service, capable of supporting 150 currencies.

David Furniss, UK sales and marketing director for NETCOM, comments: “Potential
Internet users have an increasingly wide range of products and services to chose
from. I believe that NETCOM offers real value for money to business users of the
Internet, and our relationship with Supernet further demonstrates this.”

Nick Ogden, managing director for Supernet, says: “When NETCOM’s customers
start using our services, I’m certain they’ll see how much they can benefit
from them.

“As well as offering the CD, we are offering guaranteed transaction security on
the Internet. I would certainly recommend any potential business users of the
Internet to look at NETCOM to gain the value-added services we are jointly
offering.”
